The Everything Blogging Book: Publish Your Ideas, Get Feedback, And Create Your Own Worldwide Network (Everything Series) is in my opinion the best beginner’s blogging book and will make you an intermediate blogger pretty quickly.

This one beats out Blogging For Dummies because I think it focuses on:

• More things for blogging overall

• More of the basics and how-to

• All of the important stuff

• Has a lot of useful links and tips

• Up to date

This book also doesn’t dwell too much on the variants, just enough to cover them (Moveable Type, Blogger, Typepad, WordPress, etc.)
Other strengths and valuable things covered:

• Philosophy of blogging

• Tools for bloggers

• Hosts for blogs

• Planning, development and design

• Legality (very important, what others may miss!)

• Keys to success in the blogosphere

• Business blogging

• Marketing and promotion – building traffic and links

• Maintenance and add-ons

• Lots of extras – specialty type of blogging, niches, audioblogging and podcasting, videoblogging and vlogs, etc.

Very comprehensive, thorough and concise. My #1 choice for a beginner

Truly you can’t beat the price either, while others offer it probably for $10-20, I believe amazon has it down to only a few bucks, so while it lasts, and while the info is still relevant, get your copy while you can!

This book is quite thorough and it’s strengths are:

For Dummies Series – One We All Know

The book Blogging For Dummies  has the advantage over others because of it’s well-known and smart, systematic layout of the Dummies series, which leads the reader easily and step by step in a good way, with plenty of photos and explanations, so it doesn’t get so boring.

A great way to read otherwise boring and mundane material in a way so it’s not, or at least so it can get bloggers to where they need to and want to be. Get your copy of Blogging For Dummies today while the price is right.

Blogging in a Snap (A Teach Yourself Guide) is excellent for the beginner or intermediate Blogger.  It has some great insights I found useful.
